What is a dental implant?
A dental implant is a support placed in the jawbone for a replacement crown, bridge or denture. It can be considered when a tooth or several teeth are missing.
Assessment and treatment planning
The dentist assesses your mouth, medical history and available bone before recommending treatment. Some patients need additional treatment or bone grafting. Implant placement and the fitting of the final teeth are separate stages; healing and the number of visits depend on the individual plan.
Results and long-term care
Implants need ongoing cleaning and dental reviews. They can develop complications or fail, so a particular success rate or lifetime result cannot be promised for every patient. Discuss your expected outcome, alternatives and aftercare with your dentist.
