SIMPLE IMPLANTS

First, a general examination of the patient is performed. Panoramic x-ray of the chin is taken. If necessary, a computed tomography (CT) x-ray is also taken to determine the condition of the jawbone and the density and quality of the bone in the area to be implanted. By looking at the intraoral examination and the radiographic images we have, the length (length), width (thickness) of the implant to be applied and the place to be applied are determined precisely and the operation phase is started. In the Dental Implant application, the bone is first reached through the incision made in the gingiva. According to the size of the implant, a gap is opened in the jawbone and the implant is screwed into that gap. The time for an implant to be placed in the mouth is approximately 20-30 minutes.

IMPLANTS APPLIED WITH ADVANCED SURGERY NEEDED IN CASE OF BONE INSUFFICIENCY

In implant treatment, in cases where the bone density and amount in the area to be applied are not appropriate, bone grafts taken from the body or taken from outside are applied, and the bone thickness of this area is expected to increase. After ossification has taken place, implants can be placed in this area. In order to pass the prosthesis phase, the implant must fuse to the jawbone. This period normally varies between 2-3 months. In cases where advanced surgery is applied, this period increases to 4-6 months. After the implant integrates with the jawbone, it is started to prepare the prostheses to be made on it. After the measurements taken from the mouth and aesthetic targeting are done, the prostheses are prepared by the technician in the dental laboratories in accordance with the aesthetic and functional target. The prosthesis is given its final shape with rehearsals made in the patient’s mouth, and the treatment is terminated by gluing or screwing the prosthesis onto the implant.

Will I feel pain during implant surgery?

Local or general anesthesia is applied during the implant application. Therefore, there is no pain. It is often a simpler operation than tooth extraction. After the dental implant application, there may be mild pain as the effect of anesthesia wears off. Many patients state that they experience milder pain than the pain experienced after tooth extraction. This pain can mostly be relieved with painkillers. In cases where it does not pass, the dentist should be contacted.

Is there a risk that the implants will not be accepted (rejected) by the body?

There is no case of not accepting dental implants by the organism. Implants have no known side effects and/or allergic reactions in the human body. It is not possible for the human body to produce antigens against implants and reject them (as in heart and kidney transplantation).

What are the health problems that prevent implant application?

Excessive smoking

Cigarette consumption increases the risk of infection in the tissues in the mouth by preparing the ground for the formation of bacterial plaque. Cigarette negatively affects the integration of the implant with the bone due to toxic effects. It is recommended that smokers quit smoking 15 days before and 1 month after treatment.

Diabetes

Implants are risky if diabetes is not under control. Tissue healing is slow in diabetic patients. This increases the risk of infection. While implanting in diabetic patients, the application area is kept as small as possible. After the implant is applied, it is very important for the diabetic patients to provide oral hygiene in the wound healing process. Diabetic patients should not delay regular dental check-ups after implant treatment.

Cardiovascular Disease

The implant should not be applied without consulting the relevant doctor of the patient who has any of the cardiovascular diseases. During the examination, the patient should definitely tell about the drugs he uses regularly.

Hypertension disease

Hypertension is an overreaction to situations such as pain and stress. This condition can raise blood pressure acutely during dental treatment and may lead to complications such as congestive heart failure or rarely stroke, bleeding. Therefore; before starting dental treatment of patients with hypertension; blood pressure measurements should be made and in suspected cases, the relevant doctor should be consulted.

Blood coagulation disorders

Patients with blood clotting disorders are not implanted.

Is there an age limit for implant application?

Dental Implant construction is directly related to the quality and quantity of the jawbone. It is performed on all patients who have fully completed bone growth and development and have sufficient bone. The completion of bone growth and development is completed after the age of 15 to 16 in girls and 17 to 18 in boys. In implant treatment, there is no upper age limit for implant application, which is the base age limit in relation to bone development. Even in people who are very advanced in age, there is no harm in performing implant treatment. There is no harm in applying implant treatment to patients who have completed their growth and development process, have good general health and have sufficient bone in the jawbone.

How long do dental implants last?

Studies show that implants stay in the mouth for more than 30 years. But the life of the implants depends on many factors. The systemic health of the patient and the state of oral hygiene are among the most important issues. As a result, implants can be used for a lifetime under normal conditions.

How should oral care be done after implantation in the jawbone?

Oral hygiene is essential to protect both implants and natural teeth. Oral care should be given more importance than usual within 2 days after implant treatment. Movements that will create any pressure in the mouth should be avoided. During the day the implant is applied, the mouth should not be rinsed or gargled. In the first days of treatment, care should be taken in brushing and flossing during oral cleaning. Cleaning should be done as slowly as possible. Regular and precise cleaning of the formed plaques ensures long-term success. After the implant procedure, your doctor will recommend you the appropriate oral care methods and products.
